I am Jen Murphy, a Mental Health Therapist, Parent, Young Adult and Family Coach. I have been supporting families in the treatment modalities of Wilderness Therapy, Residential Treatment, Private Practice, and Transitional Programming over the last 25 years. Additionally, I have been an Adjunct Professor in Social Sciences for over 13 years.
I have developed and implemented two nationally recognized and currently operating Transition/Parent Support Programs. I am the co-developer of the parenting model H.O.M.E. as well as co-author of the book H.O.M.E., Strategies for Making Home a Success During and After Treatment.
I provide Family and Emerging Young Adult Coaching Support, both virtually and In-Person Intensives. My focus is to help parents and families find their way at home by learning new skills and creating new positive patterns that will help shift the entire family system.
My coaching incorporates my clinical awareness and knowledge as a therapist, it’s a hat I wear in my coaching work, though I am clear on when and how to wear it. My personality style is curious, compassionate, direct, funny, and energized with a passion for teaching and supporting families in their healing journeys. I am known to be able to quickly and accurately assess patterns and the needs in a family system and the individuals within it. My coaching style is described as practical and direct, yet an empowering approach filled with compassion, insight, knowledge, humor, and patience.
In Coaching with me, measured outcomes are paramount. With decades of experience and expertise supporting families as a clinician and a coach, I've developed specific approaches that yield clear, identifiable results, distinguishing my coaching from traditional therapy all while creating an opportunity for families to participate and utilize family therapy more effectively.
My approach is structured with a clear beginning and end, fostering ongoing recovery, repair, and strengthening of family relationships. By establishing feasible commitments and rules agreed upon by all family members, we create an environment of relief, openness, and increased communication while equipping everyone involved with essential skills.
